  • The CERES Manufacturing Process
Within the European tradition of phytotherapy there exist two groups of preparations: the high-dose standardized phytopharmica and the homeopathic potentized remedies. The effects of these different preparations differ and somewhat behave as polar opposites to each other. The high dose phytopharmica expresses the active physical or biochemical components, whereas the homeopathic remedies represent the non-physical information expressed in the plant. In the middle-range of these polar effects there exist energetic forces which allow these opposite principles to unite and become synergistic. The CERES manufacturing process is unique and patented, and aimed at the conservancy of these energetic forces that allows the blending of these two dynamics poles.

CERES plant homeopathic mother tinctures and composite homeopathic remedies begin with the fresh plants themselves. CERES plants are biodynamically cultivated near Lake Constance in Switzerland. Certain plants however, are best derived from wild sources and these are collected on environmentally pristine areas of the Swiss Alps. Only the highest quality plants are hand selected and careful attention is placed to the most opportune time at which they are harvested. CERES does not use any plants that are endangered. At CERES all selected fresh plants parts are meticulously and painstakingly cut by hand to avoid the detrimental effects mechanical milling creates on the sensitive energetic forces of the plants. In contrast, most other companies to save time and money use high-speed cutting machines that produce damaging pressures and shearing stresses on the plants.

The process of maceration for the liquid homeopathic mother tinctures is a long and labor intensive one. Immediately after being hand-cut the fresh plants pieces are placed into a hermetically lockable glass-encased grinder together with alcohol. Pure grain alcohol is used because it is the most effective solvent for extracting the plant's bio-active constituents and delivering them into the bloodstream and across the cell membrane quickly. Alcohol tinctures, being more readily available to the body, assure a more rapid absorption and assimilation of a plant's vital healing properties than capsules or tablets. Much of the plant's constituents are poorly soluble in water, such as resins, essential oils and most alkaloids.

CERES has a patented bio-dynamic grinding process that involves rhythmically grinding and blending the hand-cut plant material with alcohol. Inside the hydraulically powered grinder are granite stones that rotate in opposite directions which forces the material to move in a lemniscate configuration. These stones are rhythmically pulsed at a biological frequency that approximates the beat of the human heart. The hydraulic powered grinder avoids the negative electromagnetic fields created by conventional motor-driven grinders. This unique biodynamic grinding process preserves and releases the plant's information and energetic vital forces into the alcohol, and better extracts bioactive physical chemicals as well.

After the plant-alcohol mixture has been rhythmically ground, it is placed into a large ceramic vessel and periodically stirred by hand, not machine, with a large wooden spoon. This assures that the mixture avoids coming into contact with a metal surface or detrimental electromagnetic fields. The stirring process last approximately two weeks and facilitates the liberation and extraction the plant's information and vital forces into the alcohol. At CERES heat or pressure is never used. Some companies make extracts in as little as two day, simply by adding heat or pressure to concentrate the extract quickly.

After the hand stirring process is complete, the mixture is pressed using cotton material so that the alcohol tincture is separated from the plant product. The tincture is then carefully collected into large glass containers after which it is matured in a dark-room away from light, sound and all electromagnetic influences. The tinctures are stored in glass containers in special storage cellar until used in the products. Once the plant tincture has matured (two years) it is then filtered and either placed into 20 ml bottles, or is used as the mother tincture for the process of other homeopathic preparations. The entire process takes two years from the hand cuttings of the plants in the fields, through the rhythmic grinding of the fresh plants, hand stirring, maceration and maturation process, until the final bottles are filled.

CERES does not produce standardized extracts, which strive to attain certain concentrations of a single chemical component at the expense of losing essential cofactors. All the plant's constitutes and energetic information is required in order to provide the most efficacious product. CERES, through applying a hand-crafted, labor intensive process, creates a truly superior product unparallel in the US market.

As the German poet and philosopher Goethe would say, detailed knowledge of the chemical composition of a plant alone will not suffice if we do not explore the plant's "spiritual band", i.e., the living secret of its composition and nature. At CERES every effort is given to preserve within the extraction process the plant's "spiritual band".

    From Goethe's Faust:
Who wishes the living to know and describe
    Seeks first the spirit thence to drive;
Then all the parts he has in his hand-
Lacks only, alas! the spiritual band

CERES Quality Control

  • CERES Quality Control Procedures
From the careful hand inspection of the fresh organic herbs to the meticulous processing of individual batches, the purity and reliability of CERES handcrafted extracts is superior in the marketplace. All CERES plants are biodynamically cultivated under the strictist Swiss standards and are certified by Bio.inspecta (See Bio.inspecta). CERES laboratory uses the latest technology which provides detailed compositional analysis to the molecular level.

CERES plants are obtained from a pristine Swiss environment and/or grown under organic-biodynamic farming processes. Plants and tincture products are screened for contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides. Samples are microscopically, chromatographically and chemically analyzed for quality assurance and potency.

In addition to advanced techniological analysis and controls, all batches of plant tinctures are personally evaluated by CERES founder Dr. Roger Kalbermatten and other experienced chemist for quality on the basis of smell, taste and appearance. This is somewhat similar to the sensory analysis of fine wine. With CERES products the consumer can actually taste the difference in quality from other herbal tinctures.

E ach bottle contains 20 ml (0.67 oz) and is sealed with tamper evident packaging. All packaged product information is compliant with the US Homeopathic Pharmacopia and each product is listed with the US Food And Drug Administration as Homeopathic Medicaments.
  • Bio-Inspecta
    Bio.inspecta - translated from Italian: www.bio-inspecta.ch/it/home.html

Bio.inspecta was established in 1998 in order to set up a neutral, independent and credible auditing and certification procedure for organic products. Today, Bio.inspecta inspects and certifies more than 80% of all organic farms across Switzerland and more than a thousand retailers/traders and processors of organic products. Thanks to its competent and experienced staff, Bio.inspecta is a market leader in agricultural certification. The high degree of proficiency and great number of customers ensure consistent certification for production, trade and processing. This prominent position is a decisive advantage for the consistent credibility of organic products certified by Bio.inspecta.
